Junior Church

Monthly News

November has meant that we had a rememberance day service and the Junior Church members made a remeberance cross for the church by using their thumb prints to make red poppies on the cross.

We have also started preparing things for christmas - this week we started making a Nativity scene using hand paints to make our hand prints into camels and feet prints into angels with plenty of cutting and sticking too.

October during this month we have had talks on the universe (and despite its vast size and how small we seem God still loves us more than we can know), what patronal festivals are and we managed to explore more about how machines work by taking them apart.

We are also investigating a way that we can raise money for charity by having some short meetings to decide on what to do and how to do it.

All Saints Church Gurnard Junior Church Team

Hi there we have a Junior church that runs during the school term times. The team consists of Nicky, Lynda, Cheryl and Phil.

Under the support of Rev'd Amanda, the PCC (Parochial Church Council) and the church family. We provide imaginative and creative sessions based on a curriculum provided by the Diocese. This follows the bible readings for each weeks worship. We also include in our plan mission based activities, earlier this year we held a Soup Lunch in aid of Christian Aid and raised £80 !

We use all sorts of resources to help us explain the Faith we believe and the religion that we follow. We do this with great enthusiasm and fun trying to use as many natural resources as we can and trying to avoid too much paperwork for either the children or for ourselves ! Rev'd Amanda pops in when she can to share her love and explain some of the difficult bits.

The Junior Church meets in the Garden room behind the church at 0945 hrs and we join the rest of the congregation at the end of the service. We try to get into the service to have a blessing but are often very busy in the middle of an activity or challenge to leave the garden room. Sometimes we go in to show the congregation something that we have been doing too.

There is a display board at the back of the church near the children's corner where we display some of our creations and some information about our sessions.

Here are some pictures of the kind of things that we get up to.

We hope to see you.
